Tomix 98797 JR Series 189 Limited Express (Azusa/Upgraded Car) 7 Cars Model Train Set (N scale)

In 1975, the 189 series was introduced as a DC limited express train that could operate in conjunction with the EF63 type at Usui Pass. It has primarily served as the "Asama" limited express train connecting Ueno and Nagano, but was discontinued with the opening of the Nagano Shinkansen on October 1, 1997. Some cars were then transferred to the Chuo Main Line and repurposed for the limited express train "Azusa". During this transition, the Kuha 189-0/500 type underwent some modifications, including a change in paint and the relocation of jumper plugs to align with the connection position of the 183 series for the "Azusa" upgraded cars.
